Born Louise Belhumeur on August 10, 1943 in Shawinigan (Canada), Louise Forestier is a pop singer and actress from Quebec. In the early 1960s, she studied at the National Theatre School in Montreal. She graduated in 1964, where she met Robert Charlebois. In 1966, she was named Discovery of the Year on the Radio-Canada television program Jeunesse Oblige . The following year, she released her first album of the same name. In 1968, she sang a duet with Robert Charlebois on her fourth album. The songs " California " and " Lindberg " reached the top of the Quebec radio charts, bringing her to the attention of the Quebec public. She played the lead role in the musical comedy Demain Matin, Montréal M'Attend, presented from August 4 to 23, 1970 at the Jardin des Étoiles de Terre des Hommes on Île-Sainte-Hélène in Montreal. The following year, Louise Forestier played the role of Gisèle Tuboeuf in the film IXE 13 with Les Cyniques, Carole Laure, Louisette Dussault and Jean-Guy Moreau. Her first major solo success came in 1972, with the song " Dans la prison de Londres ", which reached the top of the Quebec charts. In 1973, she returned to the province's music charts with " J'pense que c'est le temps ", " Les Bûcherons " and " Les Montréalaises ". She released six albums during the 1970s, and toured Europe several times, including in 1975 for the collective show Kébec in Paris, in 1978 in Sopot, and in 1979 at the Festival Le Printemps de Bourges. She played the role of Marie-Jeanne in the Quebec cast of the rock opera Starmania, in 1980 and 1981. Louise Forestier released a new eponymous album in 1983, then hosted a season of the Télé-Québec TV show Station Soleil the following year. In 1986, she travelled to the U.S.S.R. to sing Jacques Brel with the Belgian troupe Théâtre de l'esprit frappeur. In the autumn of the same year, she presented La Passion Selon Louise, which won her the 1987 Félix for author of the year. In 1990, she played the mother of poet Émile Nelligan in the romantic opera Nelligan . In spring 2003, she reinvented several of her classics on the album Lumières . As well as singing and acting, she has written songs for many artists, including Éric Lapointe's " 1500 miles ", Isabelle Boulay's " Jamais assez loin " and Nana Mouskouri's " Cette chance-là ".
