Bursting onto the pop scene in 2016 with their debut single, “Faster Car”, suburban Swedish production trio Loving Caliber soon found they had an international hit on their hands after prominent YouTube gamer Aphmau brought the track into the spotlight. The close-knit three-piece – formed in 2013 by singer/producer Michael Stenmark, his sister, Linda, and her life partner, Anders Lystell – took their newfound success in their stride, promptly returning with a whopping three albums and two EPs in 2017 alone, released exclusively via catalog company Epidemic Sound and primarily intended for licensing out to content creators. With a rotating cast of guest singers laying down lead vocals for the majority of the tracks, the first of these LPs, New Start, spawned another hit in the form of “We’re Just Friends”, and the second, Echoes, featured a notable guest appearance from cult favourite Julia Stone. Continuing to utilise this winning formula with a run of three albums in 2018 entitled Circles, Invested and Magical and a series of Christmas releases, the group repositioned themselves in 2020, with Michael (the voice of “Faster Car”) assuming the role of frontman and lead singer with a newfound confidence and an enduring permanence. Channeling a myriad of influences into their ensuing singles including the folk-leaning “It Should Have Been You” and the electronic “Wasted (Kill the Lights)”, the group have since sustained their prolific workrate, demonstrating a willingness to tackle all manner of genres.
