Malcolm James McCormick aka Mac Miller was an American rapper born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on January 19, 1992, and died in Los Angeles, California, on September 7, 2018. He made a name for himself on the freestyle circuit, then thanks to the single " Nikes on My Feet ", before forcing his way onto the sales charts with the album Blue Slide Park (2011), ranked number one on the Billboard charts upon its release, thanks in particular to the track " Party on Fifth Avenue ". In 2012, the phenomenon spread to Europe with the single " Donald Trump ". Back at the top of the charts with his second album Watching Movies with the Sound Off, ranked #3, Mac Miller signed with Warner Bros. for the following album GO:OD AM (2015), which was swiftly succeeded by The Divine Feminine (2016), featuring guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, Anderson .Paak, Bilal and Ty Dolla Sign. In 2018, his fifth album Swimming features a bevy of producers including Cardo, Flying Lotus, J. Cole, Jon Brion, Dev Hynes and Dâm-Funk. A few weeks after its release, Mac Miller was found dead in his home, the victim of an overdose. Two years later, a posthumous album, Circles , was released, based on the recordings he had begun. It was produced by Jon Brion, with whom the rapper had collaborated. The producer took charge of most of the arrangements, providing guitar, percussion, drums, bass and most of the keyboards. Five years later, Balloonerism is a posthumous second album, featuring tracks recorded in 2013-2014.
