Canadian country music singer songwriter Madeline Merlo was discovered by record producer Dan Swinimer at the age of 17. She signed to Open Road Recordings in 2013 and released her debut single 'Sinking Like a Stone', which was produced and co-written by Swinimer, in 2014. This was followed by second single 'Alive' in the same year and the release of a self-titled EP also in 2014. Although both singles charted in the Canada Country Singles Chart, her third single 'Honey Jack' (2015) was more popular, achieving over a million streams online and reaching number 25 in the Canadian Country Singles Chart. Her next single 'Whatcha Wanna Do About It' (2016) gave her her first top ten hit and was included with all her previous singles on her debut album 'Free Soul', released on Open Road Recordings in 2016. Also released as singles from this album were 'War Paint' (2016) and 'Over & Over' (2017). These both reached number 13 on the Canadian Country Singles Chart. Merlo started releasing songs which were to be included in her second studio album in 2017, beginning with 'Motel Flamingo' which was her highest chart success so far, reaching number eight. This was followed by 'Neon Love' (2018) in which Merlo encapsulated her pop meets country style that has now become her trademark. In 2019, she released the singles 'Unraveling' and 'Dear Me'. These singles have all been a great success online, with over 13 million total streams across all digital platforms.
