The singer Maia Hirasawa was born in Stockholm, Sweden and began her professional career as a back-up singer in the popular and successful Swedish band 'Hello Saferide', an ensemble fronted by Annika Norlin. Hirasawa began her solo career with the single 'And I Found This Boy' released in 2007, a song which was picked up by mainstream radio and received significant amounts of airplay which began to establish Hirasawa's name as an emerging talent. The single was one of three lifted from the album 'Though, I'm Just Me' (2007) which subsequently reached number nine in the Swedish charts. The follow-up album 'GBG vs STHLM' was released two years later in 2009 and made it to number 12. Hirasawa's next three albums failed to make an impression on the Swedish charts but instead made inroads into the Japanese Oricon listings culminating in 'What I Saw' released in 2012, which made the top ten.
