Majo Aguilar is a Mexican singer and songwriter. She was born María José Aguilar Carrillo on June 7 1994, in Mexico City, Mexico. The daughter of famous Mexican singer Antonio Aguilar Jr. (himself the son of the legendary Antonio Aguilar), it was only natural that she would follow in their footsteps. In 2015, Majo Aguilar made her music debut recording the single “Te Busqué” along with her cousins Leonardo and Ángela Aguilar. The following year, Majo Aguilar started to write and record her own music, choosing to distribute it independently on video-sharing platforms. Her song “Triste Recuerdo” was an early success, increasing her profile with Mexican audiences. She also uploaded a cover version of "Mi Destino Fue Quererte," her grandmother’s signature song, which further raised her profile. This was followed in 2017 by the EP Tributo, featuring cover versions of various songs by her grandparents as well as two original compositions of her own. In 2018, Majo Aguilar signed with Universal Music Group and released the singles “Un Ratito” and “Quiero Verte Bailar,” followed by her second EP Soy. In 2021, she released the single “No Voy a Llorar,” her rendition of the famous hit by the bachata group Los Diablitos. The track was included in her studio debut Mi Herencia, Mi Sangre, released a few months later. Over the next few years, Majo Aguilar continued expanding her repertoire through the albums Se Canta Con el Corazón (2022) and Mariachi y Tequila (2023), whose lead single "Canción Para Olvidarte" reached number 34 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart.
