The warm, sensual voice of jazz and blues singer Malia caused a sensation when her debut album Yellow Daffodils was released in 2002. With trumpeter Erik Truffaz and compositions by André Manoukian, she scored hits such as the album's eponymous title track and "My Purple Shoes". An excellent third album, Young Bones, was released in 2007. Five years later, Malia paid tribute to Nina Simone with Black Orchid. In 2014, she teamed up with sound engineer Boris Blank (Yello) for the Convergence project, somewhere between neo-soul and electro pop.
