Maliq & D'Essentials are a funk and soul band from Jakarta, Indonesia, formed in 2002. Maliq in the name stands for Music and Live Instrument Quality. Their debut album '1st Maliq & D'Essentials' came out in 2004 and they earned nominations in regional awards including the MTV Asia Awards. 'Free Your Mind' was released in 2007 followed by 'Mata Hate Telinga' (2009), 'The Beginning of a Beautiful Life' (2010), 'Sriwedari' (2013), 'Musik Pop' (2014) and 'Senadung Senadika' (2017). In February 2019, they announced that a new album recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios was to be released later in the year.
