Mando Diao is an alternative rock band from Borlänge, Sweden, founded in 1999 by singer and guitarist Björn Dixgård. They established their retro sound, which is based on the 60s and 70s, in combination with simple, catchy riffs on their 2002 debut album Bring 'Em In , which made them famous beyond Sweden's borders. They gained a large fan base in Germany in particular, at the latest after their second album Hurrican Bar climbed to number 30 in the German charts and took them to numerous German concert and festival stages in 2004 and 2005. The third album Ode to Ochrasy received consistently good reviews and reached number 3 in the German album charts. The fourth album Never Seen the Light of Day was recorded during their first world tour. in 2009, "Dance with Somebody" from the fifth album Give Me Fire! was released as the band's most commercially successful single. With this hit, they reached number 2 in the German singles charts and number 1 in the Austrian singles charts. the obligatory MTV Unplugged concert followed in 2010, and the album Above and Beyond was released at the same time. On their sixth studio album Infruset (2012), they sang in Swedish throughout for the first time and the LP became a huge success in their home country. With the experimental album Ælita from 2014, they turned to synth rock. 2017 saw the release of the album Good Times . On the album I solnedgången (2020) they sing in Swedish again.
