The daughter of an American Airlines pilot and an Orlando Sentinel news reporter, Mandy Moore became interested in singing after seeing the musical 'Oklahoma!'. She quickly made a name for herself singing the US National Anthem at various sporting events in Florida, and after signing with Epic Records built a fervent teen following through 1999 on tour with the Backstreet Boys. She was just 15 when she released her bubbly pop debut album 'So Real' (1999), resulting in the breakthrough hit single 'Candy' and sales of over two million. Second album 'I Wanna Be With You' was released in 2000, followed by 'Mandy Moore' in 2001, which included the singles 'In My Pocket' and 'Crush', and the more mature-sounding 'Coverage'. By this time, however, her music had been overtaken by her TV and acting career, which had begun in 2000 with her own MTV chat show. Her movies have subsequently included 'The Princess Diaries' (2001), 'A Walk to Remember' (2002), 'Chasing Liberty' (2004), 'License to Wed' (2007), Disney animation 'Tangled' (2010) and 'Saved' (2004) - in which she sang a cover of the Beach Boys hit 'God Only Knows'. In 2009 she married fellow musician Ryan Adams and appeared on his Grammy Award-nominated self-titled album in 2014. However, the couple announced their separation in 2015 and their divorce was finalised in 2016. Later that year Moore began starring in the award-winning comedy drama 'This Is Us', appearing in all four seasons show to date and receiving Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations for her role. In 2019 she returned to music with the release of 'When I Wasn't Watching', followed a year later by her seventh studio album, 'Silver Landings', her first new record in more than a decade.
