Manitas de Plata

Flamenco guitarist Manitas de Plata ("fairy fingers") was recognized as one of Django Reinhardt's worthy successors in the 1960s. Since then, the Gypsy has taken his instrument and his skills around the world, most notably on the annual pilgrimage to Saintes-Maries de la Mer. His impressive discography includes Musique aux Doigts (1976) and Flores de Mi Corazon (1999). The following decade saw the decline of the musician, who lost his son and accompanist Manéro Baliardo in 2012, followed by heart and financial problems. Ruined, he died on November 5, 2014 at the age of 93.
