At the end of the 1990s, Dolly had been one of the revelations of French rock, with songs such as "Je ne veux pas rester sage" and "Quand l'herbe nous dévore". A blend of rock, folk and country, the Nantes-based band inspired by the Pixies and The Pogues came to an abrupt halt in 2005 when bassist Mickaël Chamberlain passed away. It was a year before ex-members of the band re-emerged under the name Manu, inspired by former Dolly singer Emmanuelle Monet. The album Rendez-Vous, released in 2008, was followed by a long tour, summed up in the live CD/DVD Rendez-Vous à l'Elysée-Montmartre, released in 2010. Manu's second studio album, La Dernière Étoile, released in April 2013, is pre-empted by the track "Que fais-tu". This was followed by a tour during which, for the first time since the end of Dolly, she played a song by her band again. In 2015, she returned to the studio to create La Vérité, her third album.
