Marc Gabriel

Born Marc Gabriele in Tunisia in 1952, Marc Gabriel is a Quebec pop singer. He moved to Nice in the south of France at the age of 9, then immigrated to Quebec at the age of 17. He studied at Collège Stanislas in Montreal and formed his first blues band, Clowdy Tunnel, with four other students. He developed his percussion skills on school lockers and was expelled for destroying school equipment. In 1986, Luc Plamondon and Michel Berger cast him as Roger-Roger in the second Montreal production of the rock opera Starmania , along with Marie Carmen and Marie-Denise Pelletier. Marc Gabriel releases his first album in 1988, Transatlantique . In addition to the title track, five songs reach the Quebec radio charts: " Femme en couleur ", " Jérusalem ", " Lady Vivaldi ", " La Vallée des rois " and " Tabous ". In 1990, he wrote the song " Prend bien garde " for Julie Masse, and released his second opus, Karianne. He reached the top of the charts with the song " Indigène ", and enjoyed success with the title track and the songs " Le Harley blues band " and " Le Lion est mort ce soir ", a cover of the Henri Salvador song. He subsequently released the albums Le Chant des Gouttières in 1992, and Unis in 1998. In 1999 and 2000, he played the character of Frollo in the musical Notre-Dame de Paris. Marc Gabriel released his sixth French-language album, Transparence , in 2004, and two English-language albums in early 2010.
