Best known as a Grammy Award-winning grunge and hard rock guitarist, Mark Tremonti – born April 18, 1974, in Detroit, Michigan – has proven himself to be a musician and vocalist who is not afraid to take chances in his music career. He first came to prominence when he formed post-grunge band Creed in 1994 with vocalist Scott Stapp, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Two of Creed’s four albums – Human Clay (1999) and Weathered (2001) – went to Number 1 on Billboard’s 200 Albums chart. Their first Number 1 single, “With Arms Wide Open”, won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. Tensions within the band caused Creed to split in 2004 and Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips immediately formed the hard rock band Alter Bridge with vocalist Myles Kennedy. Alter Bridge’s 2004 debut album, One Day Remains, was released in 2004 and hit Number 5 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Their second album, Blackbird, was released in 2007 and landed in the Top 20. Mark Tremonti and his bandmates temporarily reformed Creed with Scott Stapp for 2009’s Full Circle, but they resumed duties with Alter Bridge when they finished touring what is, to date, the final Creed studio album. While continuing his work with Alter Bridge, Mark Tremonti was writing material that was too hard for both Creed and Alter Bridge, so he formed a new group named Tremonti. They released their debut album, All I Want, in 2012 and followed it with several more albums including Cauterize (2015), Dust (2016), and Marching in Time (2021). Alter Bridge remained active during this time and released albums such as AB III (2010), Fortress (2013), The Last Hero (2016), and Walk the Sky (2019). In 2022, Mark Tremonti released one of his most challenging and ultimately satisfying albums yet: Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra. On this album, he worked with some of the only surviving members of Frank Sinatra’s band and recorded a bona-fide crooner album filled with plenty of singing and swinging. Throughout his career, Mark Tremonti worked with a variety of artists including Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Angelo Batio, Submersed, Fozzy, Bury Your Dead, Sevendust, and others. He has been honored numerous times with awards from Loudwire Music, Metal Hammer, Guitar World, Total Guitar, and others.
