Mat & Savanna Shaw

Father-daughter inspirational pop duo Mat and Savanna Shaw formed when the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill in February 2020. Savanna (born on August 4, 2004) could no longer attend choir practice due to the pandemic, so she set up several social media accounts to connect with her friends virtually. She was inspired to film herself singing “The Prayer” but was too shy to do it on her own, so she asked her father Mat (born on July 26, 1980) to perform the song with her. The video she posted went viral around the world and brought the duo plenty of media attention, appearing on many TV talks shows in the U.S. and even in Japan. While the music they perform is inspirational, the duo’s intention was to be vague about politics and religion and not pressure their audience to adhere to their own beliefs. The duo’s debut album, Picture This, was released in October 2020. Projecting a positive message, Mat and Savanna Shaw’s music touched many people who were emotionally impacted by the pandemic. They released Merry Little Christmas, a seven-song holiday release, in November 2020. The duo issued the album Stand by Me in May 2021, followed by The Joy of Christmas in November 2021. Mat and Savanna Shaw have also undertaken live performances and appeared on many television shows to promote their releases.
