Dubbed by the media as the “Latino Justin Bieber,” American singer-songwriter Matthew Alexander Hunter Correa (born on February 20, 1998), aka Matt Hunter, began his career as the voice of Diego on the popular children’s show Dora The Explorer before going viral with his video covers in both Spanish and English, gaining a considerable fanbase across Latin America. The teenage pop singer released his first single, “Mi Amor,” in 2012 and quickly followed up with “Mi Señorita” and “Right Here, Right Now,” the title track of his 2013 debut EP. The extended play’s success prompted a Latin American, which culminated in a sold-out show at Santiago de Chile’s Movistar Arena. The next couple of years proved fruitful for Hunter as a Pitbull collaborative track dropped in 2014 for the FIFA World Cup and the 2015 single “Más Que Tu Amigo” quickly amassed millions of streams. “Amor Real,” his major-label debut single, saw the light in 2017 via Universal Music Latino and paved the way for a string of high-profile collaborations with Internet celebrity Lele Pons in 2018 (“Dicen”) and Chilean rapper Tommy Boysen (“Una Vez Más”) the following year. 2020 found Hunter as prolific as ever, teaming up with Byron Salas and Kobi Cantillo for the reggaeton “Toca” and joining Venezuelan singer Corina Smith on the urban-tinged duet “Suave.”
