Singer-songwriter Matt Maltese was born in the UK to Canadian parents. He grew up in South London and became involved with the music scene there as a teenager. His wry modern ballads were widely acclaimed from the release of his first single, 'Even If It's a Lie' in 2016 which has had over nine million streams online. His second release, a two-track EP called 'Vacant in the 21st Century' (2016) which also included the song 'Strange Time' continued to show off his witty songwriting, but it was his EP 'In a New Bed', released later in 2016, which was his most popular up till that date. Including four tracks, the stand-out single was 'I Hear the Day Has Come' (2016). This went on to be used in the soundtrack for the teen drama thriller 'Elite' which increased his popularity even more. A further single release 'No One Has Won the War' followed in 2017. In 2018, Maltese released his debut album 'Bad Contestant' which was reviewed to critical acclaim and contained popular singles 'The World Caves In' (2017), 'Comic Life' (2017) and 'Greatest Comedian' (2018).
