Cardigan-loving Chicagoan five-piece The Walters formed in America's 'Windy City' in 2014 and released two EPs of DIY indie-rock before calling time on their short-lived career in 2017. Comprising lead singer Luke Olson, lead guitarist Walter Kosner, rhythm guitarist/vocalist MJ Tirabassi, bassist Danny Wells and drummer Charlie Ekhaus, The Walters was initially conceived by Walter Kosner after he moved from Connecticut to Chicago to study at DePaul University. Walter Kosner quit his studies and assembled the band's four other members who released their debut EP of swooning vocal harmonies and shimmering guitars, Songs for Dads, that same year. The EP drummed up online attention and The Walters were invited by Atlantic Records subsidiary Canvasback Records to release two songs as part of the ongoing series, "Hunk Beach" and "I Want to Be Good." In early 2017, they released a single and music video for "She's Gonna Leave You," working with respected indie-rock producer Phil Ek (Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes). In 2017, The Walters began their first national tour and performed at the Lollapalooza music festival, but announced their split on September 23 that same year.
