May Jamileh Hashimoto, who goes by the name May J., is a J-pop singer born in Yokohama of Iranian and Japanese heritage who began performing as a teenager, and had a stint as a dancer before making her recording debut in 2006 with the EP 'All My Girls'. Her debut album 'Baby Girl' came out in 2007 and in 2009 'Family' went to number four on Japan's Oricon Albums Chart. Other albums include 'For You' (2010), 'Colors' (2011), 'Secret Diary' (2012), 'Brave' (2012) and 'Imperfection' (2014). Her Japanese cover of the track 'Let it Go' for the hit Disney movie 'Frozen' was very popular in 2014 and in 2015 she released an album titled 'May J. Sings Disney'. She has collaborated with several acts such as Wise, Taro Soul & Ken the 390, Demon Kakka and Flo Rida and with Tetsuya Komuro and Jobs#1 on the 2017 single 'Happy Dreams!'. She performed with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra for a Billboard Classics concert in 2017 and in 2018 toured the nation with a four-piece band and string quartet. Her 2019 schedule was to include appearances at venues across Japan.
