Born Michael Cheung Tin Fu Cheung on December 1st, 1996, the singer known as MC was born in British Hong Kong and spent his formative years in Canada before moving back to his birthplace after high school. He set about laying the groundwork for his singing career in 2019, christening his stage name on the Hong Kong talent show Making Stars II. After spending the next few years finding his voice, he signed with Warner Music Hong Kong in December 2020 and released his first single, "Good Time," the following March, with a second single, the R&B romancer "Against Invalid," turning up in June. Another two singles arrived in 2021, "Loser" and "Memory Foam," with MC describing each of the four tracks as linked to a different season. December 2021 saw the release of his first EP for Warner Music Hong Kong, Have A Good Time, and he began 2022 on a good note, scooping the Golden Award for New Male Singer in the Music World at Hong Kong Commercial Radio's 2021 All-Music Pop List Award Ceremony, marking his first award in Hong Kong pop music. Later that year, he collaborated with Hong Kong multi-hyphenate Huang Weiwen for "Slip Carefully," and in April picked up another accolade, winning the Gold Award for Newcomer of the Year, also making it onto ViuTV's Chill Club Promotion List Annual Promotion 21/22. Frenemy, a collaborative EP with Hong Jiahao, came next in August 2022 while This is MC followed in January 2023. His third solo album, TREBLE, arrived in 2024 via Warner Records Hong Kong and was produced by Xu Hao.
