MC Hariel, born Hariel Denaro Ribeiro on December 20, 1997, in Vila Aurora, São Paulo, is a leading figure in Brazilian funk music. Influenced by his father, Celso Ribeiro, a musician in the group Raíces de América, Hariel began recording music at just eleven years old. His early years were marked by hard work, including stints as a pizza delivery boy and card seller, before achieving his first hit with "Passei Sorrindo" in 2014. Initially known for his bold lyrics in funk ousadia, MC Hariel quickly gained recognition with tracks like "Novo Corolla," a nod to the funk ostentação scene. His breakthrough came with "Lei do Retorno," a collaboration with MC Don Juan that amassed over 270 million views on YouTube. In 2019, MC Hariel recorded his first DVD, Haridade, in Bolivia's desert, followed by his debut album Chora Agora, Ri Depois in 2020. The album’s standout track "Cupido" was highly praised, and his EP Avisa que é o Funk further cemented his status, especially with the hit "Maçã Verde." MC Hariel continued to push boundaries with socially conscious music like "Ilusão (Cracolândia)" and the politically charged "Monstro Invisível." Chora Agora, Ri Depois, his debut album, was released in 2020 and was followed by other successful releases such as 1Beat 1Letra (2022), ALMA IMORTAL (2023), and the live album Funk Superação (Ao Vivo) (2024), which featured contributions from Gilberto Gil, Péricles, MC Paulin da Capital, and many more.
