≠ME

≠ME (Not Equal Me) is a Japanese all-girl idol group assembled by the Yoyogi Animation Company as a sister group to =Love. Formed in 2019, it consists of twelve members and is produced by former AKB48 and HKT48 member Rino Sashihara. Auditions for the group began in early 2018 and by April 2019, all of its members had been introduced to the audience. In August of that year, ≠ME released their first single and made their live debut at the Tokyo Idol Festival 2019. After featuring on =Love's B-side track "Kimi no Oto Dattanda," the twelve-piece released their debut EP Chōtokkyū ≠Me Iki in 2021, topping both the Oricon and Billboard Japan charts. Follow-up singles "Kimi wa Kono Natsu, Koi wo Suru" and "Mahoroba Asterisk" appeared in July and November, respectively, and proved just as successful, reaching number 2 on the domestic singles chart. In 2022, ≠ME scored their first number 1 single in Japan with the non-album track "Chocolate Melancholy." This was followed by other standalone singles such as "Su, Suki Janai!" (2022), "Hanikami Short" (2022), and "Tenshi wa Doko e" (2023), all of which peaked at number 2 on the Japanese charts and received gold certification. In 2023, ≠ME landed another chart-topping entry with the song "Anti Confiture" (アンチコンフィチュール)." Springtime in You, the group's studio debut, arrived in 2024 and soared to the top of the Oricon charts, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard Japan charts.
