Mehdi K-libre

Mehdi K-libre, born Mehdi Essbai in Meknes in 1986, discovered rap at the age of 12 thanks to his French rap neighbors. Born into a family of musicians, he took an early interest in lyrics and writing, and adopted hip-hop culture as a way of life. In 1999, he began recording his first tracks with modest means. In 2001, he formed the group K-libre with friends from Meknes, a committed group that gained notoriety and won the prize for best rap group at the Boulevard des jeunes musiciens in 2005. After the group split up in 2007, Mehdi pursued a solo career under the name K-libre.
