MELOGAPPA is a unique Japanese musical duo and YouTube sensation, made up of two male performers. Founded in March 2019, they quickly established their presence by launching a YouTube channel the following month. Their name, a combination of "melody" and the mythical "kappa," reflects their light-hearted approach to music, emphasizing enjoyment over sanctity. Their first video was a cover of Kenshi Yonezu’s “Lemon,” and they soon expanded their content to include a series titled "Combination Series" which significantly shaped their current direction. By August 2019, MELOGAPPA had already made a live appearance at the Michinoku Otokomatsuri 2019 in Sendai, showcasing their music live. In February 2020, they set an ambitious crowdfunding goal to shoot a music video in Las Vegas, raising over 17 million yen, far surpassing their initial target. Despite delays due to the global pandemic, they managed to travel to Las Vegas in July 2022. MELOGAPPA announced a nationwide Zepp tour in October 2020, planning to perform across six locations in spring 2022. This tour, despite the absence of original songs, sold out its tickets within a week due to limited capacity under COVID-19 precautions. They released their album SARA in 2024.
