Born on July 18, 1988 in Istanbul, Turkey, dance-pop singer and songwriter Merve Özbey rose to national fame after appearing on Erdem Kınay's 2012 hit single "Duman," which was featured on the Turkish producer's album Proje. After contributing to his follow-up album Proje 2, notably providing vocals on the track "Helal Ettim," she was inspired to step out on her own and record her debut solo album. Yaş Hikayesi was released in 2015, with which she spawned a chart-topping hit on her native soil with the Deniz Erten and Erdem Kınay-assisted lead single. As well as releasing her own single "Boynun Borcu" in 2017, Merve Özbey was welcomed as a featured artist on 2018 tribute albums to Yıldız Tilbe and Ahmet Selçuk İlkan, titled Yıldız Tilbe'nin Yıldızlı Şarkıları and Ahmet Selçuk İlkan Unutulmayan Şarkılar, respectively. Her own second full-length album of modern pop, Devran, came in May 2019, which folded in aspects of Arabesque and soul music. Merve Özbey dropped two new singles in 2021: "Yerle Yeksan" and "Kendine Dünya."
