Pop singer Derya Uluğ was born on February 21, 1986, in Izmir, Turkey and raised in Izmir, Turkey. Interested in music at young age, she began taking part in music competitions by the time she was eight years old. Before beginning her professional music career, she studied music and violin at Muğla University before finishing up her education at the Haliç University Conservatory. After spending three years as backing vocalist for Turkish pop singer Ebru Gündeş, she pursued a solo career and released her debut single, “Okyanus,” in 2016. That year, she was honored with the Best Newcomer Soloist Award at the 43rd Golden Butterfly Awards. Further singles included “Canavar” (2017), “Nabiz 180” (2017), “Ne Münasebet” (2018), “Kafalar Karişik” with Ece Seçkin (2018), and “Ah Zaman” before issuing the number 1 single “Kanunlar Gibi.” While she continued to release a series of solo singles, she also collaborated on recordings by Güven Yüreyi, Emrah Karaduman, Cem Belevi, and Ceylan Ertem. In 2023, Derya Uluğ released her debut album, Nefes, which included the single “Yansima” featuring Asil Gök.
