Michael Mayer

German DJ, remixer and producer Michael Mayer is best known as the co-founder of the independent Kompakt label. Born on December 11, 1971, he moved to Cologne at the age of twenty and started hosting a radio show, before moving into club DJing. In 1997, together with Reinhardt Voigt and Tobias Thomas, he formed the house trio Forever Sweet, which produced the album Geben & Nehmen for the Landomat 2000 label, before founding the Kompakt label with the former's brother, Wolfgang Voigt, and Jürgen Paape. Kompakt quickly established itself as one of the jewels in the techno and house scene, with renowned artists such as The Orb, Superpitcher, Gui Boratto, Panda Bear, Who Made Who, Dettinger and John Tejada, and the release of compilations. In addition to the groups Zimt (1998) and Supermayer with Superpitcher (2007), Michael Mayer has developed his own personal activity with the albums Touch (2004), Mantasy (2012), & (2016) and The Floor Is Lava (2024). He also records several EPs and singles, and mix albums such as the Spreicher series or DJ-Kicks (2017) and Connecting the Dots (2021).
