Mike Ladd has been an activist of alternative rap and spoken word since his debut album Easy Listening 4 Armageddon in 1997. In addition to albums under his own name, he uses the pseudonyms The Infesticons, The Majesticons, and Anarchist Republic of Bzzz. Welcome to the Afterfuture in 2000 is a testament to his highly personal musical vision. In 2004, Mike Ladd teamed up with pianist Vijay Iyer for the album In What Language? about the post-9/11 world. Nostalgialator (2004), Negrophilia: The Album (2005), Father Divine (2005), and The Storm (2006) built an unblemished reputation for their author. Now living in Paris, where he teaches English, Mike Ladd released Kids and Animals in 2011, still at the cutting edge of the rap avant-garde.
