Minmi is a Japanese singer noted for fusing pop with reggae, R&B and soca. Unusually for the Japanese market, she writes and produces her own songs. She made the charts with her 2002 reggae-influenced single 'The Perfect Vision' and in 2003 released the album 'Miracle'. In 2004 she released the more pop-orientated album 'Imagine' and in 2005 the soca-influenced compilation 'Friends'. She appeared in Trinidad following the success of her single 'Summertime!' in 2006 and released the album 'Natural'. Minmi is married to Wakadanna of Japanese reggae outfit Shonan no Kaze. She marked the birth of her second child with her 2010 album 'Mother'. Later albums include 'I Love' (2013), 'Bad' (2014), 'Ego' (2015), 'Life Is Beautiful' (2016) and 'Identity' (2018). She has released several greatest hits compilations and her song 'Shiki No Uta' was used in the 2004 anime film 'Samurai Champloo'. She released a version of the song with English lyrics in 2019.
