Minori Chihara, born on November 18, 1980, in Tochigi, Japan, is a Japanese voice actress and singer. She debuted her voice acting career from April to September 2004 as Aya Natsume in Tenjho Tenge and released her album Heroine in December of the same year. While predominantly working as a radio host, she also became well known for voicing Yuki Nagato in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The ending theme single "Hare Hare Yukai" from the series, which she performed with Aya Hirano and Yūko Gotō, achieved gold status in July. In 2007, Chihara ended a two-year hiatus from her singing career by recording the song "Junpaku Sanctuary" from the anime Kiddy Grade Violet in January. She followed this with the single "Kimi ga Kureta Anohi" on June 6 and her new album Contact on October 24, which reached number 11 on the Oricon charts. The following year, she released multiple singles: "Melty Tale Storage", "Ameagari no Hana yo Sake" and "Paradise Lost" from her third album Parade, which climbed to number 16 on the charts. In 2009, Chihara released the single "Tomorrow's Chance" in June and "Precious One" in December, which flew to number 5. Both tracks were featured on her 2010 album Sing All Love, which landed at number 6. February 29, 2012 saw the launch of D-Formation, her most commercially successful album to date, which peaked at number 3. This album spawned several top 10 singles, including "Freedom Dreamer" (2010), "Defection" (2011), "Key for Life" (2011), and "Terminated" (2011). This momentum continued with the tracks "Celestial Diva" (2012) and "Zone//Alone" (2012) both of which were included in her 2013 album Neo Fantasia, which reached number 10. In 2016, Chihara unveiled the album Innocent Age on April 6, which reached number 11 and featured the tracks "The Sky I Wanted to Meet" and "Thank You, I Love You." She released another album, Spiral, on September 26, 2018, which reached number 22 and included singles like "Michishirube" and "Remained Dream / Hopeful 'SOUL.'" Chihara continued to release singles throughout 2019, including "Amy" and "Christmas Night," both of which charted in the top 50. She announced her retirement from music in April 2021.
