Mista Grimm

Real name Rojai Trawick, American rapper Mista Grimm was born in West Covina, California, on August 21, 1973. Signed to the Epic Records-affiliated label 550 Music, he scored a hit with the track "Indo Smoke", chosen by Warren G to feature on the soundtrack to the cult rap film Poetic Justice. Released in June 1993, it reached #56 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #63 on the R&B/hip-hop chart. The video that accompanies the track features some of the leading figures of the moment, including 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and others. In 1994, another track made it to the silver screen with "Situation: Grimm", featured on the soundtrack of John Singleton's film Higher Learning. Mista Grimm took the opportunity to release his first album, Things Are Looking Grimm (1995), which was also the only one of its kind, but failed to live up to expectations at the height of the g-funk wave due to the failure of "Steady Dippen", chosen as the first single. Thereafter, the Californian rapper stuck to collaborations, notably with DJ Pooh, T-Bone and Warren G.
