Real name Émile Joël Sofonnou, Ivorian singer-songwriter Mix Premier was born on September 19, 1985 in Cotonou (Benin), to a Beninese father and an Ivorian mother. Initially a member of the family church choir, the young boy gradually learned the rudiments of piano, guitar and drums. Later, living in Port-Bouët, he discovered the world of music in a more professional way with his friend DJ Sat, who taught him more technical notions and introduced him to his network. He obtained his first DJ contract, opting for the name DJ Mix. In 2007, at the height of the coupé-décalé craze on the Ivorian scene, DJ Mix and Elloh DJ released the album Bobaraba, which was an instant hit. He then turned his attention to his solo career, releasing several albums, including Mafouet in 2016 and Empire in 2019. Numerous singles followed, including "C'est mon nom" in 2020, "Touche ici" in 2021, "L'oracle" and "Commando " in 2022, and "L'argent" and "Décalé Gouindé " in 2023.
