Moonlight Benjamin

Born in 1971 in Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Moonlight Benjamin, real name Marie Benjamin, is a Haitian singer. She moved to France in 2002 to study music. She formed the group Dyaoulé Pemba with Jean Pascal Marrou, Loïc Farge and Mathieu Royer, who released the album Moonlight Chante Haïti in 2007. She was the discovery of the Printemps de Bourges festival in 2008. In 2011, she released her first solo album, Mouvman , featuring the song " Le Mal du pays ". In addition to her solo career, in 2013 she began collaborating with French saxophonist Jacques Shawrz-Bart and Cuban pianist Omar Sosa. She released a second solo opus in 2018, entitled Siltane, a blend of blues, Creole, rock and voodoo. Moonlight Benjamin kicks off 2020 with her third album, Simido , which opens with the song " Nap Chapé ", in which she sings about the apathy and lack of communication in her native country. At the end of February 2023, she launched the album Wayo.
