Tamikrest

Tamikrest is the story of a group of young Tuaregs fed on desert blues and Western rock. Formed in 2006 when its original members were just twenty years old, Tamikrest quickly followed in the footsteps of Tinariwen. In 2009, with the help of Chris Eckman of The Walkabouts, Tamikrest released their debut album Adagh. Two years later, as northern Mali fell into the hands of radical Islamists, Tamikrest released Toumastin, which means "my people". With a tighter line-up and the addition of French guitarist Paul Salvagnac, Tamikrest's Chatma is one of the highlights of the new musical season in 2013.
