Moumoon (stylized as moumoon) is a Japanese pop duo, consisting of YUKA (vocals) and Kousuke Masaki (guitar). Crossing paths at a summer rock festival in 2004, their professional collaboration came about after several demo tape exchanges. Both members were immersed in classical music during their upbringing, with Masaki on piano and YUKA excelling in violin, which resulted in a versatile musical style spanning pop, alternative rock, electronica, folk, and indie rock genres. The duo debuted live in October 2005 at Tokyo music venue Omotesando FAB, and in 2006, they signed a deal with indie label Gate Records, unveiling their first single "Flowers/Pride." Their debut mini-album Flowers (September 2006) followed soon after, charting at 63 on Oricon's album charts. Their eponymous album came out in 2008, bringing the dueo overnight success with the 2010 single "Sunshine Girl," soaring to the Top 10 on the Oricon charts. Between 2011 and 2015, they rolled out four albums, including Spark (2010), 15 Doors (2011), No Night Land (2012), PAIN KILLER (2013), and LOVE before we DIE (2014). In 2015, moumoon performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas, as part of the Japan Nite showcase, dropping their sixth studio album It’s Our Time later that year. They followed this with Flyways (2017) and Newmoon (2019) before embracing a new chapter with indie label VAA in July 2021, releasing FELT SENSE in July 2023, which landed at 58 on Japan's Top 100 Albums chart.
