Known for their whimsical stylings and their witty lyrics, My Little Airport is a twee pop duo from Hong Kong that writes in both English and Cantonese. Composed of Lam “Ah P” Pang and Nicole Au Kin-ying, the group was formed in 2001 when both its members were studying journalism at the Hong Kong Shue Yan College. They spent the following years playing Hong Kong’s indie circuit before issuing their studio debut The OK Thing to Do on Sunday Afternoon Is to Toddle in the Zoo (2004), independently released via their own Harbour Records. A second album titled Becoz I Was Too Nervous At That Time saw the light in 2005, a year before the band signed with Elefant Records. Their debut for the Spanish label, Zoo Is Sad, People Are Cruel arrived in 2007 and was followed by We Can't Stop Smoking in the Vicious and Blue Summer, released later that year. As time went on, Ah P’s lyrics became increasingly political, as evidenced by 2009’s Poetics – Something Between Montparnasse and Mongkok, a more folk-oriented record in style. Subsequently, they delved deep into their literary influences for 2011’s Hong Kong Is One Big Shopping Mall and then continued their hot streak with Lonely Friday (2012), The Right Age for Marriage (2014), Fo Tan Lai Ki (2016), and You Said We’d Be Back (2018).
