Nachhatar Gill's worldly-wise Punjabi pop is informed by Bollywood, Bhangra, Indian devotional and sufi music as well as various other traditional styles. Born Nachhatar Singh Gill on 15th November 1968, the Punjabi singer-songwriter cut his teeth singing with his kirtani (a hymn singer at Sikh temple) father as a child and first rose to fame in the early '00s with his solo song "Dil Ditta Nahin Si," also releasing notable religious albums Sahib Jinah Diyan Mane (2006) and Ardaas Karaan (2010). His first big hit came in 2016 with "Ishqan De Lekhe," and in addition to landing roles in a number of films – including 2015 Punjabi rom-com Jugaadi Dot Com – he has released several film songs, most recently "Pe Geya Puaada" for the 2021 Indian Punjabi-language rom-com Puaada.
