Natalie La Rose was born on 11 July 1988 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her parents are of Surinamese origin, and she studied singing and dancing. At the age of twenty, the fan of Beyoncé and Whitney Houston flew to Los Angeles, California to pursue her artistic dreams. In 2010, she became one half of the unsuccessful female duo Amsterdam. Full of nerve, Natalie La Rose then approached Flo Rida directly and became his backing vocalist from 2011 to 2013. Her patience was rewarded in 2014 with her debut single "Somebody". This R&B track with Jeremih reached number 19 on the Billboard charts on its release, and began a world tour that took it as far as France. She experienced another burst of fame with the 2015 follow-up single "Around the World," which featured superstar rapper Fetty Wap and went to number 14 in the UK, and lit up the charts all over Europe with her feature on "The Right Song" from Tiësto and Oliver Heldens in 2016. After seven away from the spotlight, she returned in 2022 with "Tables"—released on her new label home of Global Sound Entertainment—and 2023's "Can't Get You Out of My Bed" with POPE (People Of Positive Energy). Several other singles followed in 2023, including "The Way" and "Boys Lie," with "Give It All to Me" arriving in 2024.
