An American singer born in Iowa in 1982, Nate Ruess is best known for his work with indie rock bands The Format, until 2008, and then Fun. with whom he released the albums Aim and Ignite in 2009 and Some Nights in 2012. It was with the latter group that he scored his biggest hits, including three chart-toppers: "Some Nights", "Carry On" and, above all, "We Are Young " (the Grammy Award-winning duet with Janelle Monae, American No. 1). Eager to showcase his voice in spheres other than rock, Nate Ruess went on to collaborate with Anthony Green, Pink, Eminem and Brian Wilson. When Fun. declared a hiatus in February 2015, the singer almost immediately scouted out his first solo single, "Nothing Without Love". This heralded the release, four months later, of the album Grand Romantic , on which his friend Beck lent a hand with a track, "What This World Is Coming To".
