After winning £44,000 on TV show Deal or No Deal and landing a grant from The Prince's Trust, Shahid Khan turned his parents' garden shed into a recording studio and set about becoming Britain's hottest young producer. First attracted to the music he heard in Bollywood films, the British-Pakistani dropped out of university and started sending out tracks to anybody that would listen in 2006, before signing a publishing deal with Sony ATV and getting his big break when he co-wrote and produced Chipmunk's hit single Diamond Rings. A young, unknown Emeli Sandé featured on the track and the pair struck up a partnership which saw Kahn co-write and produce the majority of Sandé's million-selling debut album Our Version Of Events (2012). Khan also worked on tracks for Professor Green, Tinchy Stryder, Leona Lewis and Rihanna and scored his own Top 10 hits with Never Be Your Woman, Wonder and Lifted, before La La La topped the UK charts and became the fastest selling single of 2013. Full of strutting R&B, electro ballads and experimental urban pop, his debut album Hotel Cabana (2013) featured Sandé, rapper Wiz Khalifa, British soul star Gabrielle, folk pop strummer Ed Sheeran and baroque rockers Bastille, and followed a concept that they were all guests at a strange guest house.
