Necrophobic is a Scandinavian death metal band formed in 1989 in Stockholm, Sweden. Founding members include guitarist David "Blackmoon" Parland, who would later play in Dark Funeral and Infernal, and drummer Joakim Sterner. After releasing an EP, The Fall, in 1992, the band made its full-length debut with 1993's The Nocturnal Silence. Both recordings introduced a sound that moved between death, black, and heavy metal, with Necrophobic looking to bands like Bathory for influence. Follow-up records included Darkside (1997), Bloodhymns (2002), Death to All (2009) and Womb of Lilithu (2013). In March 2013, the band's former guitarist and co-founder, David Parland, committed suicide, and group took a sabbatical after his loss. It wasn't until 2018 that Necrophobic returned with the album Mark of the Necrogram. The album reached number 23 on the German charts. Two years later, Dawn of the Damned climbed to number 26. Necrophobic's success on the European charts continued with 2024's In the Twilight Grey, which reached number 41 in Germany and number 27 in Austria.
