Nicole Markson

Nicole Markson is a dance, pop and R&B singer best known for her 2014 single 'Higher Than Heaven'. Markson hoped to be a musician from an early age, taking voice and piano lessons and writing her own songs from the age of 13. In the early '80s Markson came close to a record deal but never made it as far as the studio. Undeterred, she went to New York to earn a degree in Theater and Communications from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She performed in various musicals and cabarets, but after she entered the family real estate business Markson took a lengthy detour away from music. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, however, she re-evaluated and made her way back to the studio to begin writing, recording and performing again. In 2013 Markson got a band together and began performing at venues on the East Coast. Her first single, 'Higher Than Heaven', followed in 2014, getting picked up for remix by DJs Stonebridge and Dave Aude. Things went quiet for a few years (barring a self-released track, 'Dancing Into the Summer', in 2016) before Markson re-emerged in 2019 with a deal with indie dance label 418 Music Beat. That year she released a collection of 'Higher Than Heaven' remixes followed by the holiday single 'Xmas Kiss'.
