Nicole Willis is an American singer-songwriter born in New York in 1963, who moved to London and then to Helsinki, Finland. After her debut in 1989 as backing vocalist for Matt Johnson's band, The The, multiple collaborations and a solo career launched in 2000, during which she released two albums, Soul Makeover and Be It (2004), it was then with the Finnish collective The Soul Investigators that she officiated. Together, they recorded Keep Reachin' Up (2005), which was critically acclaimed. In 2013, Tortured Soul marked their comeback, which continued two years later with the album Happiness in Every Style. Nicole Willis is the wife of Finnish electro musician Jimi Tenor.
