$NOT is the pseudonym of American hoodie-wearing MC and producer Edy Edouard (December 16, 1997), who cultivated a substantial online following through his online streaming channel before breaking into the mainstream with the single “GOSHA” in 2018. Born in New York City, Edouard relocated to West Palm Beach at the age of 7 and started rapping influenced by cloud rap, trap, and alternative hip-hop. He made his official debut in 2017 with the single “By Myself” and followed up with the self-released EP THE TI$$UE FILES (2018), which further refined his woozy, lo-fi approach to music production. That same year, he accumulated tens of millions of plays across streaming platforms with the laid-back trap singles “GOSHA” and “MEGAN,” both included in his 2020 studio debut, - TRAGEDY +, released via 300 Entertainment. Featuring guest spots by Iann Dior (“Like Me”), Denzel Curry (“Sangria”), and Flo Milli (“Mean”), Beautiful Havoc, his second full-length, arrived in October 2020 and became $NOT’s first charting release, peaking at Number 172 on the Billboard 200.
