Novelbright

J-poppers Novelbright formed as a duo in Osaka, Japan in 2013 and released a handful of independent singles before coming in their own in 2017 with the addition of three new members. Originally comprising lead vocalist Yudai Takenaka—who initially envisioned a ONE OK ROCK tribute band at high school—and guitarist and vocalist Kimunii, Novelbright later expanded to include lead guitarist and vocalist Kaito Yamada, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Sôjirô Oki, drummer Negi. They released their debut J-rock-leaning single, "Count on Me," with "Tsukiyo ni terasare" (月夜に照らされ) on the B-side, and their debut mini-album, Skywalk, came the following year. Bassist and backing vocalist Keigo joined the band in January 2019 and they released their second mini-album, EN. That year, Novelbright found themselves in the spotlight after an acoustic performance of their 2018 rock tune "Walking with You" earned the approval of TikTok users and became a national hit. That same year, they were named among the Top 20 Artists of the Year at the Tower Recomen Awards and in 2020 upgraded their repertoire to include a full-length debut album. Wonderland was released in May 2020, and later that year Novelbright won the New Artist Award at the 62nd Japan Record Award ceremony, alongside three other artists. A second full-length album arrived in April 2021, Opening Declaration, followed by third album Assort in 2022 and fourth album Circus in 2024.
