Although most commonly known as the frontman, guitarist, and chief songwriter of the South Korean rock band Hyukoh, Oh Hyuk has also earned chart-topping hits as a solo artist, working with a diverse array of songwriters and rappers along the way. He was born in Seoul, South Korea, on October 5, 1993, and moved to China during his infancy. Pursued by South Korean talent agencies like JYP Entertainment during his teenage years, he chose to form his own band instead, partnering with bassist Im Dong-geon, guitarist Lim Hyun-jae, and drummer Lee In-woo to form Hyukoh in 2014. Hyukoh was a critical and commercial success, topping the South Korean charts with their debut single, "Wi Ing Wi Ing," and earning a Korean Music Award for "Best Modern Rock Song" with their second chart-topping hit, "Comes and Goes," in 2016. Meanwhile, Oh Hyuk also created music outside of the band, starting with a collaborative EP, 2015's Lucky You!, that he created with South Korean hip-hop star Primary. That same year, he sang a duet with K-pop star IU on her chart-topping album Palette. The song, "Can't Love You Anymore," also topped the charts and eventually sold more than two million copies. Oh Hyuk scored yet another Number 1 single in 2015 with his remake of Lee Moon-sae's "A Little Girl," which was released on the soundtrack of the popular TV show Reply 1988. During the following decade, he maintained Hyukoh's momentum with the release of 2020's Through Love, which peaked at Number 8, and continued collaborating with other artists as a solo artist in 2021, releasing "Dorm Stairs" with Jnkyrd, "Nabi" with Peggy Gou, and "2020" with Primary.
