Oscar and the Wolf

Oscar and the Wolf is the musical moniker of Belgian alternative pop songwriter Max Colombie, who was born in the municipality of Jette on February 22, 1991. At 14 years old, he finished second in Belgium's preliminary round of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with his piano ballad "Voor Eeuwig." Five years later, he began releasing music under the stage name Oscar and the Wolf, joined by bandmates Ozan Bozdag, Claudio Arduini, and Jasper Bullynck. His first EP, 2010's Imagine Mountains, found him crafting an indie-folk sound that earned comparisons to Bon Over, while 2012's Summer Skin merged those folk roots with dreamy, guitar-based textures. Summer Skins also marked Oscar and the Wolf's first release with PIAS Recordings. Following the release of a popular single, "Orange Sky," in 2013, Oscar and the Wolf made its full-length debut with 2014's Entity. The album's electronic sound proved to be wildly successful in Belgium, where Entity topped the charts and earned a double-platinum certification. The platinum-selling singles "Princes" and "Strange Entity" both cracked the Top 10. One year later, Oscar and the Wolf scored another pair of hit singles with the Raving George collaboration "You're Mine" and the gold-certified "Back to Black (Film Black Version)," the latter of which was featured in the 2015 Belgian film Black. A second album, Infinity, was released in 2017. Rooted in the same polished, pop-driven electronic sound as its predecessor, Infinity climbed to Number 1 on Belgium's Ultratop chart, boosted by the Top 10 hit "Breathing" and the Top 20 single "Runaway." Another single, "James," appeared in 2021, the same year of release as his third album The Shimmer, which went to number one on home soil. His fourth album TASTE appeared in October 2024.
