Belgian electro pop band Bazart was formed in Ghent in 2012 by vocalist Mathieu Terryn and guitarist Simon Nuytten. The pair brought bassist Tom Goovaerts, drummer Robbe Vekeman, and keyboardist Oliver Symons into the fold for their 2012 debut EP Meer Dan Ooit. The band spent the following years touring Europe and delivered an eponymous EP in 2015. Propelled by the success of their breakout Top 10 single “Goud,” the EP provided the group with a much-need popularity boost that helped them land gigs at festivals like Rock Werchter and Pinkpop. Preceded by the single “Chaos,” their studio debut Echo saw the light in 2016 and debuted at Number 1 in Belgium. The album held pole position on the Ultratop 200 Albums for 4 consecutive weeks and was quickly certified platinum. A live album titled Echo Live arrived in 2017, followed by their second full-length 2 in 2018. The LP shot straight to Number 1 on the Belgian Albums chart and spawned the singles “Grip (Omarm Me)” and “Onder Ons,” a collaboration with Dutch singer Eefje de Visser. Between 2020 and 2021, Bazart dropped the singles “Alles Of Niets,” “Denk Maar Niet Aan Morgen,” and “Anders,” all of which entered the Flemish Ultratop 50 and were included in their third full-length Onderweg, released in June 2021.
