The Canadian country singer Owen Riegling is best know for his platinum-selling hit "Old Dirt Roads," which reached number 2 on the Canada Country Chart in 2023. He was born in 1998 in Mildmay, Ontario, where he was raised on a large farm. "Smoke Man," his debut single, was released in 2020 as part of the EP Empty Room. A deal with Universal Music Canada followed, as did the major-label debut single "Love (The Sweater Song)." The song was a hit on Canada's country singles chart, where it hit number 29. The rural landscapes of his hometown inspired Riegling's next single, "Old Dirt Roads," a platinum-selling mega-hit that was nominated at the Country Music Association of Ontario for "Single of the Year." "Old Dirt Roads" climbed all the way to number 2 on the Canada Country chart and served as the flagship single of his second EP, Bruce Country. A second track, "Moonshines," was released later that year and reached number 46, becoming Owen Riegling's third country hit in the Top 50.
