Born in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Josh Ross is a country music singer and songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. He grew up in Burlington and focused all his attention on many types of sports including hockey, soccer, football, and motocross. On a football scholarship, he attended Western University and had planned on playing in the Canadian Football League (CFL). However, his sports career was sidelined by several injuries, and he turned his focus onto a career in music. After briefly playing in a band called Silver Lining, Josh Ross officially set out on a solo career in country music. After competing in several music contests in Canada, he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 2019. His debut single, “If You Were a Song,” was released in 2019 and was followed a year later by his debut EP Do What You Love. His next single, “First Taste of Gone,” was released in February 2022 and reached number 5 on the Canadian Country Music Singles chart and number 54 on the Canadian Hot 100. In September 2022, Josh Ross released the single “On a Different Night,” which reached number 27 on the Canadian Country Music Singles chart. The year ended with the release of his 2022 EP Live Sessions. After winning the Rising Star Award at the Country Music Association of Ontario and the Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year Award at the Canadian Country Music Association in 2023, Josh Ross issued his first number 1 single, “Trouble,” which was followed by “Ain’t Doin’ Jack,” which reached number 4. In March 2024, he issued his Complicated EP, which featured the singles “Trouble” and “Single Again.”
